We are seeking to recruit a Hydrologist to join a busy Team working across the West Midlands area to regulate, protect and enhance the water environment. Your role will be to collate, analyse and interpret hydrological information necessary for effective water resource management. This will include contributing to producing the water situation report, completing quality assurance of river flow data and technical assessments into the impact of water abstractions on river flows. You will work closely with your Hydrology Team members and provide professional advice and technical assessments on hydrological issues to customers and partners. Your work will inform decision making and contribute to protecting and improving the environment.
The West Midlands Hydrology Team currently consists of 5 Hydrologists delivering work across Shropshire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and West Midlands. The Team provides technical expertise and advice on a range of water resource management projects including Water Framework Directive, Catchment Abstraction Management Strategies, Restoring Sustainable Abstraction programme and determining water resources licences.

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake an incident role, for which full training will be given.
You should have good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing. You will deliver work to high standards and be able to prioritise tasks to achieve results
You will have a degree in preferably geography or environmental sciences or related field, and ideally have practical hydrology training. You will have an understanding of hydrological concepts, data and techniques. You will have experience of analysis and interpretation of data and information to inform decision making and problem solving.
You should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and ArcGIS.
