We are looking for an Assistant Scientist (Instrumentation / calibration) to assist in the cleaning, calibration and maintenance of a wide range of water quality monitoring equipment. In addition you will assist in the operation of our quality assurance system.
The high resolution evidence produced is vital if we are to better understand our water environment.
We provide support to all high resolution water quality monitoring activities undertaken across the Agency. It delivers a vital service that underpins many of the Environment Agency’s statutory responsibilities such as the Water Framework Directive, Urban Waste Water Directive and Statutory Surface Water Monitoring Programme’s. It also makes a significant contribution to partnership projects such as Demonstration Test Catchments and Catchments Sensitive Farming. The team also supports the wide range of high profile stakeholder partnerships
We’re seeking a Scientist with lab experience. You will be have a science background, formally qualified or with substantial and relevant vocational experience. In addition you should possess proven ability and/or knowledge of:

Direct instrumentation experience

Laboratory procedure and practice

Use of quality systems and documentation

Environmental science




Other key requirements for this job include excellent communication skills, proficiency in word, excel and database management along with a passion for innovation and problem solving.
