We are an evidence-based organisation. Do you want a rewarding career that makes a real difference by using our data, evidence and information to improve and protect the environment?

This is a fantastic opportunity to plan our local work to enhance the diversity, health and resilience of our environment in Devon, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly (DCIS). It is a pivotal role that covers all our Area work.

We are looking for a motivated self-starter who is passionate about improving the environment. You will bring a combination of technical skills and the ability to work alongside others to deliver environmental improvement across Devon and Cornwall.

As our Environment Planning Specialist you will take a leading role for our Catchment Planning within the Integrated Environmental Planning (IEP) team for our DCIS Area. Our catchment planners manage our environmental evidence datasets, work on strategic plans, prioritise the collection of environmental evidence, and advise the business and our partners on evidence-based priorities.

The workstreams covered by this role includes:

- Technical lead for planning, developing and prioritising our water quality and water quantity monitoring.
- Technical lead for the DCIS Area Water Environment Regulations and River Basin Management Plan.
- Manage our environmental evidence including Water Environment Regulations classification data, evidence on the Catchment Planning System and Catchment Data Explorer.
- Provide our evidence to the wider business and partner organisations to support environmental protection and improvement. Visualisation and presentation of data in various formats, including use of ARCGIS software.
We are an inclusive team with a shared passion to protect and enhance the environment. We work with others to focus on the most important things for the environment. You will also have opportunity to participate in the wider national EA community, and work with our external partners who share the ambition of our Environment Plan for a nation resilient to climate change; healthy air, land and water; and green growth and a sustainable future.
You will need:

- A good understanding of current environmental pressures, particularly those impacting the DCIS Area.
- Ability to interpret complex datasets, present data and information to audiences with varying levels of technical understanding, and use this as the evidence to drive environmental outcomes
- Competence for using of ARCGIS software
- Ability to work collaboratively with others to deliver environmental outcomes
- Confidence to manage competing workloads and deliver tasks to deadlines
- Able to work effectively in a dispersed team.
This is a permanent role in the Devon, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Environment Planning team. The role will be based in our Exeter, Launceston or Bodmin office, but through a flexible hybrid model that allows people the choice to work at offices or home to suit the needs of both individuals and the business. To attract the best candidate we are open to considering applications from those who wish to work flexibly, and do not live locally.
