We’re looking for an Asset Performance Officer to project manage and deliver works which maintain some of our key flood defence assets (including sluices, flood walls, embankments, gates, trash screens, culverts and pumping stations), as well as develop a programme to effectively manage assets throughout their lifecycle. This work is essential to reducing flood risk and protecting people and properties. The role will also involve engaging with members of the public about our assets and maintenance work.

The work is varied and will include data and financial management, specification and review of works, management of minor construction projects and comprehensive asset maintenance, as well as dealing with the public and professional organisations. The work will include both office and site work, site work will be required both during fine and inclement weather throughout the year.

There are opportunities to get involved with incident management when flooding occurs. We have a flexible range of roles you can volunteer for and you’ll get all the training and support you need.
This is a hugely rewarding role that can provide a lot of job satisfaction and opportunities for professional development.
3 Permanent and 1 fixed term position available
Our Asset Performance teams are responsible for the overall performance of our flood risk assets. We ensure all assets are inspected, surveyed, assessed, maintained and operated in a safe, efficient and effective manner to reduce flood risk for people and property. We work closely with our Field Teams, other internal teams and external contractors to deliver a large programme of asset maintenance work each year.
We're seeking individuals who have project management and/or asset management experience, preferably with relevant work experience in the flood risk sector and an understanding of flood, land drainage and reservoir legislation. You’ll have an engineering or science background and, ideally, a relevant qualification and/or demonstrable experience. Formal qualifications in civil engineering, project management (e.g. PRINCE2); data and information management (e.g. GIS); and experience of undertaking construction works in accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 are advantageous.

It’s important that you’re skilled at managing multiple priorities and competing demands. You will be an excellent communicator and must also understand the importance of teamwork and collaboration. Other key requirements for this role include proficiency in data and information management; undertaking work in accordance with health and safety and environmental regulations; working in teams; and focussing on our customers and partners.
Closing Date: 8th January 2018 at 23:55 hours

You'll be expected to travel to field locations across the Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire areas so a full UK driving licence is required. As an operational role, this post is eligible for a lease car (subject to business case approval).

Some standby and on-call work will be required. You'll also take part in incident response. Your line manager will confirm the arrangements with you depending on your role.
