We are looking for an experienced Biodiversity Officer to work within the FBG Team based in the West of East Anglia at Brampton, Ely or King's Lynn. This post will be a permanent contract. There is also an exciting opportunity for a Biodiversity Officer on a fixed term contract based in the Ipswich Office until March 2019.

As a strong influencer, you will work closely with a range of internal and external customers providing biodiversity input, support and advice on a range of projects and maintenance programmes as well as influencing the delivery of environmental outcomes through environmental permits and the planning process.

A good working knowledge of protected species and habitats and environmental legislation is required, as is an understanding of protected species survey methodology.
FBG provides technical advice and guidance internally and externally, guided by our statutory responsibilities for environmental protection, improvement and regulation. Much of our focus is on flood risk works and delivering multiple benefits including fish & eel passage, river and coastal habitat enhancements. We work closely with external partners to maximise ecological improvements in our Area.
We are a team of very enthusiastic and dedicated people who want to deliver the best for the environment.
We are looking for Biodiversity Officers who can demonstrate an ability to undertake this technical role. You will be qualified to an appropriate level in a relevant technical discipline and have significant levels of relevant practical experience.

You will have good understanding of biodiversity, as well as its practical implications for the work the Environment Agency carries out.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a good track record of influencing and delivering results through others.

You will be well-organised and have the confidence to work independently on your own initiative. You must have a full driving licence.

The grade rate for the role is £27,183
Hours of work: 37 hours per week.
A full UK driving licence is essential.
We as an Agency take part in incident response. If successful your line manager will discuss arrangements with you depending on your role and circumstances.
