Set within the Greater Manchester City Region, the economic powerhouse of the North, the Urban Pioneer seeks to create real cultural, social, economic and environmental benefit for the natural environment and the 2.7 million residents that call Greater Manchester home. Through a truly collaborative, interdisciplinary approach working with the 30+ partners you will support the delivery of the Pioneer as it supports the development of and tests ways of working towards the Governments 25 Year Environment Plan.

This exciting and significantly important role will see you ensuring we have rigorous but agile controls in place to ensure the successful delivery of the project. Learning from and developing best practice and efficient ways of working to improve environmental delivery and protection.

You will be lead on the following:
• Capturing the work of partners as they support the Urban Pioneer’s objectives;
• Developing and deploying project management administrative functions;
• Engaging internally and externally with sectors, organisations, businesses and others, championing the work of the Urban Pioneer and sharing lessons learnt.
• Monitor and evaluate progress of work, communicating efficiently issues and opportunities for improved project performance to enhance delivery.
• Design and implement appropriate monitoring, risk management and programme controls.
We're looking for an exceptional individual who is a great team player to join our team, which strives for excellence and constantly innovates. With experience of project management and working with others, you will facilitate delivery against the pioneer’s objectives.

You will be part of a multi-organisational team working closely with the Project Manager, bringing together different cultures and creating innovative ways of working, supporting them to deliver this ambitious project.
Proven attention to detail and ability to effect change with a clear record of delivery.
You need to be flexible, innovative and forward thinking. Someone who can demonstrate that their actions have delivered to help us improve the environment. You will be someone who is a confident and competent communicator, able to speak and engage at a variety of technical and leadership levels. You need to be a strong team player and able to work with autonomy.

You will have a proven record of guiding, advising and supporting others, ensuring that decisions are made on sound technical grounds and in line with best practice and timeframes. Your work will be essential in building the evidence required to create organisational change to improve the lives and livelihoods of those who live and work in urban areas.

The post will be based at Richard Fairclough House, Knutsford Rd, Warrington WA4 1HT and will require a commitment to travel to other locations including London for meetings and to work.
