We are recruiting to three Geomorphology Technical Specialist posts within the Fisheries, Biodiversity & Geomorphology Teams in Lincoln, Hatfield and Worthing. We are looking for experienced fluvial and coastal geomorphologists to help us protect, restore and enhance the natural environment.

As complex case work is a large part of this role, you will need to have good influencing skills, as well as strong technical geomorphology knowledge. You'll provide expert fluvial and coastal geomorphological advice, guidance and training to support colleagues in delivering improvements to the ecological status of our rivers, lakes, estuaries and coastal waters. The role has a strong technical and practical focus, with regular site visits with colleagues.
You'll join a vibrant team of ecologists and fisheries experts within our Area offices. You'll also be required to work with geomorphologists from our national team and other Areas, to ensure we benefit from each-others’ technical expertise and experience.

Major challenges include contributing to sustainable development and influencing our own capital schemes and operations, especially river restoration, improving fish passage, influencing renewable energy schemes, and building climate change resilience.
Qualified to at least degree level in a relevant technical discipline. You must have significant levels of relevant practical experience, and be able to apply your technical knowledge to influence water management in ways that work with nature and natural processes.

• You'll have strong influencing and excellent communication skills and be a problem solver with a good track record of delivering results through others;
• You'll be well-organised and have the confidence to work independently, on your own initiative, and to coach / mentor others to improve their capabilities in geomorphology;
• A good understanding of the requirements of WFD, particularly the hydromorphology element, is essential
