We have 2 temporary positions for team members to help manage the flood risk data and information requests that we receive from our customers, working closely with our Customers and Engagement team to meet their deadlines. The successful candidates will get an understanding of the technical data we hold and how this is used by our customers to ensure development and activities near rivers take full account of flood risk and the environment. You will also support the team as they work with internal teams, local authorities and others to raise awareness of flood risk and reduce flood risk from single sources and in combination.
Partnership and Strategic Overview teams develop the technical knowledge needed to deliver a strategic overview of flooding, providing evidence to support our flood risk work across Hertfordshire and North London. We provide flood risk advice for planning applications, assess flood risk activity permits and manage flood risk data and information requests for customers. We work with lead local flood authorities and help to develop strategic flood plans for communities at risk of flooding.
We are looking for individuals with good communication skills and great customer focus with a passion for the environment. We are looking for someone with data management skills who can interpret technical information. They need to be organised and work well as part of a busy team. Knowledge of the Environment Agency's flood risk management responsibilities is desirable. Experience of presenting information to a variety of audiences would also be beneficial.
You need competent IT skills, including GIS. There are opportunities for training and professional development.
You will need to be flexible and adaptable and provide support for different work activities as required. Experience in an engineering or science background would be beneficial.

Your qualifying experience may be gained through a combination of formal qualifications and some experience through to no formal qualification and substantial experience.
An understanding of flood risk and incident management is beneficial. Occasional weekend and evening work may be required.
You may be required to support incident management activities.
