We’re looking for a water quality planner to join the Water Quality North team in Operations Catchment Services on a 1 year assignment.
Your knowledge and advice will shape stakeholder agendas to ensure that plans are in place for a high quality water environment now and into the future. As a WQ technical expert your influence will be felt across the service and you will be expected to:

• Assist on statutory water quality planning process;
• Review and provide assurance on water company price reviews and performance reporting;
• Assist technical liaison with individual water companies on the development of their statutory plans;
• Be an active member on one or more technical portfolios to give our customers, internal and external, a single point of contact for a range of water quality issues.
Operations Catchment Services works to secure the greatest possible outcomes across key stakeholders, influencing significant investment in the water environment. The Water Quality team provide technical analysis and delivery around strategic planning for both water quality and resources functions. The teams work together through a portfolio approach, aligned to key customers e.g. water companies. In order to deliver our outcomes we take a one business approach working closely with Areas and E&B.
We are seeking an individual with extensive water quality planning experience. You’ll be qualified to at least degree standard (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and preferably have, or be working towards, a specific professional qualification or membership of a professional body. You will possess proven ability and/or expert knowledge of:

• Water quality planning;
• Effective working with external organisations, particularly water companies;
• Using strong communication and networking skills to influence or help deliver outcomes;
• Interpreting/evaluating evidence to propose effective solutions for challenging problems;
• Shaping and facilitating change/new ways of working to improve efficiency & productivity.

You should understand and be comfortable with the challenges of remote working as part of a dispersed team. The successful candidate will be expected to be able to travel for national meetings with occasional overnight stays. The preferred locations will be in the North.
