This role will see you manage project teams to deliver our organisation’s strategic ambitions. You will have the ability to build a great working environment to bring the best out of high performing teams, including our supply partners, spread across different locations. You will apply your strong commercial acumen in project, contract and risk management to establish effective supply partner relationships, facilitating collaborative and efficient ways of working. We’ll expect you to manage the project delivery process from initial strategic planning, through to feasibility, detailed design and then into implementation, construction and handover.

You’ll use your interpersonal skills to build and develop a resilient network of working relationships both inside and outside the organisation with Stakeholders and Partners. You’ll use your influencing skills with stakeholders such as statutory authorities, local councils, landowners and local communities to negotiate agreements, gain consents & approvals and secure external funding.

As Project Manager on mainly flood risk management projects, you’ll use: project management tools to monitor and report progress; assurance and approval processes to check that deliverables fulfil scope requirements and policy; governance procedures to escalate issues to your Project Executive and; collaborative ways of working to bring stakeholders on board.
Programme and Contract Management (PCM) is responsible for delivering the majority of our high profile and large scale projects in a continually improving sustainable way, mainly within our flood risk asset management programme; from multi-million pound programmes to ground-breaking, award-winning projects. There are >70 colleagues working in your local team who work within a supportive environment where each team member’s contribution is valued. Our professional teams manage projects throughout their lifecycle to deliver environmental improvements.
You’ll have a degree in an engineering, environmental or geography related discipline or similar ideally with chartered membership of a professional body such as the ICE, CIWEM or APMP preferred and a project management qualification.

You’ll have technical knowledge in a range of areas including flood and coastal erosion risk management (FCRM), engineering, construction, business case development, scope preparation and feasibility assessment. Your experience will enable you to guide and direct the delivery of your projects via your teams.

You’ll have several years of experience in a project and contract management environment, ideally on engineering, construction and/or FCRM projects. You will have a track record for delivering results with a skill for tackling tough, technical challenges and ensuring project outcomes are achieved.

You’ll have experience managing a range of stakeholders, both internally and externally, and can demonstrate good interpersonal and influencing skills, and collaborative behaviours operating across all levels.
