As part of the Environment Agency's Statutory Assessment and Reporting (SAR) team you will play an active part in the delivery of high quality data and information used to assess the Environment Agency’s operational activities and polices.
You will have an opportunity to lead and support pieces of work that are highly respected by internal and external customers. This role is in the Marine team in SAR, and will primarily manage bathing waters data, fulfilling our obligations to run compliance assessments, to manage data on our external facing Swimfo site, to meet the needs of internal customers and to continuously improve our data management and delivery.

The team is highly motivated and always seek new and innovative ways to use data and information to provide a sound evidence base for the organisation and to Government in making important policy and legislative decisions. You will be expected to play an active part in this process.
SAR are part of the Chief Scientist's Group in our national Environment & Business Directorate. A friendly and supportive team of data and information specialists with a great reputation for delivery of key information that drives the organisation’s water environment activities. The team works together to provide mutual support, share learning, and tackle technical challenges collaboratively so that we can advance environmental legislation and improve the way we provide information to Government and the public.

• Enjoy working with data and look to anticipate requirements now and in the future to support reporting
• Be able to work well as part of a dispersed team
• Be able to use technology to make your work more efficient
• Deliver your work with a focus on quality and attention to detail
• Have evidence of customer focus and good organising skills
• Be familiar with Environment Agency monitoring data, but this is not a prerequisite.

It would be helpful if you have experience of data manipulation and analysis using one of the following:

• Ms Excel, MS Access, databases, SQL, FME, R, python

Experience in these is not necessary as training will be available.
