The Estimating Manager leads a team of specialist Cost and Carbon Estimators. The team provide cost and carbon estimates, assist with client set target development, assurance and benchmarks. This role requires a competent manager to provide leadership and influence others internally and externally.
Responsibilities include:•
Ensuring estimation processes are consistently delivered nationally, adhering to the commercial model and developing/implementing industry best practice.
Ensuring competent estimating resource is available and scalable to demand through resource planning and business influence, focusing on efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability.
Collaborating with the wider Cost and Carbon Team focusing on improving the robustness of cost and carbon estimates
Influence development of the commercial strategy
Responsible for the provision of sufficient estimating tools and their appropriate use.
Responsible for maintaining clear and concise process documentation.
Represent the Cost & Carbon Estimating Team at commercial meetings.
Take a leading role on external engagement with government departments and cross industry partnerships.
Responsible for the provision of performance and estimate data.
Line management of permanent staff and bought in service resources.
Influence, contribute to and facilitate implementation of NZC 2030 measures.
Knowledge/experience in estimating is desirable, not mandatory. Applicants with transferable skills from alternative backgrounds are welcomed.
The Cost and Carbon Team provide an estimating and commercial intelligence service to: influence and assist decision making; evidence and support carbon and cost quantification; provide whole life estimates and establish client set targets for contracts. These responsibilities are split between the three comprising teams - Estimating, Commercial Intelligence and Benchmarking, and Carbon Assurance.

The Estimating team specifically provide cost and carbon estimates, assist with client set target development, assurance and benchmarks.
This role requires an individual who is driven and enthusiastic with the ability to competently manage and achieve consistency out of an established team of professionals. Whilst knowledge and experience in estimating is desirable, it is not mandatory and applicants with transferable skills from alternative backgrounds are welcomed.

• Experience of continued improvement approaches and embedding ways of working.
• Degree in relevant discipline e.g. scientific, engineering.
• Professional membership of CIWEM, IEMA, ICE, AACE, RICS or similar.

This is a national role which is flexible in location.
