Delivering routine maintenance programmes for our assets, you’ll protect properties and infrastructure by maintaining flood defences and river channels by carrying out repair work, desilting and cutting weed. When floods or environmental emergencies occur, it’s important that we act quickly so you’ll be on hand to respond to incidents operating our defences and assets such as pumps, sluices and flood gates. You’ll also take part in an emergency call out rota to respond to pollution and flooding incidents, sometimes at short notice. Health and safety is very important to us so you’ll follow procedures and complete risk assessments for the work that you do.
