This is an exciting role in the Environment Agency’s Fisheries, Biodiversity and Geomorphology Team in Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire.

The successful applicant will be required to support other team members to provide advice and guidance to a range of customers and partners on a diverse range of topics, from advice to Planning Authorities on new developments to working with our own Flood Risk Management Teams to manage and influence the annual maintenance programme.

The post holder will be expected to work across disciplines, providing support in Fisheries, Biodiversity and Geomorphology. As a result there will be the opportunity to get involved in a range of work both in and out of the office environment, as well as opportunities to learn new skills.

There will be opportunities to work with external partners and stakeholders and other Environment Agency functions delivering projects that provide a wide range of environmental benefits from habitat creation to natural flood management.

There will be an element of administrative work, but this will be essential work to support the wider work of the team, and will also provide valuable learning experience to help with self-development.
The Fisheries, Biodiversity and Geomorphology team delivers a vital service that underpins much of the Environment Agency’s statutory responsibilities. You’ll join a well-established experienced team of technical officers and technical specialists providing advice and support to other Environment Agency functions as well as delivering our own specific priorities in Fisheries, Biodiversity & Geomorphology. The Team works in partnership with others and collaborative working is key to achieving our objectives.
The post holder will have a background in one of the three core disciplines and be willing to develop knowledge in other work areas. You will have experience of working in a team but will also be able to deliver on your own initiative. The post holder will hold a degree in a relevant subject and will hold a professional membership or be willing to work towards one.
