You will be one of three Environment Agency staff forming the Joint Programme Office (JPO) supporting our joint work with the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) based in Bootle, Liverpool. Working in a busy office, alongside ONR colleagues, the role provides important technical administrative support services for the new nuclear programme. Tasks include electronic records management, maintaining performance reports, data and information handling, supporting the development of technical documents and general programme support. A range of corporate and programme specific IT systems are used in the role. Customer support, working with EA and ONR technical and regulatory staff, industry representatives and their project support offices is routine. EA specific project tasks will also be carried out from time to time of a similar nature.
The JPO also coordinates and facilitates technical and management meetings with industry representatives, often attending and taking notes of those meetings at ONR or company offices. Occasional local and national travel is to be expected.
The post is also part of a larger EA team, line managed by the NNB Programme Manager allowing interaction will colleagues and tasks outside of the JPO role. However, day to day supervision will come from ONR staff leading JPO delivery.
The 3 JPO staff form part of our 9-strong team supporting the oversight, and coordination of technical and regulator teams working on the assessment of new reactor designs and proposals for new nuclear power stations. Our work is high profile aimed to enable government policy for decarbonising the energy sector and tackle climate change. We work with many Environment Agency teams, with partners such as the Office for Nuclear Regulation, with government, and industry
The successful candidate will need to have demonstrated previous experience of working in a busy, professional office environment, working to deadlines and delivering accuracy in their work. Good IT and communication skills are essential. You will need to show that you can be self-motivated, proactive and forward thinking and able to work with minimal supervision. Being able to work as part of a bigger team with the common goal of providing first class customer services is highly desirable. Experience of, working in partnership arrangements would be helpful, but not essential. Prior knowledge of the Environment Agency, Office for Nuclear Regulation and the nuclear new build programme are not necessary.
