Joining this crucial area of the business, you’ll be responsible for working on exciting and challenging Projects and Packages of Projects from initial strategic planning through to detailed design and construction.
You will be responsible for delivering your own small projects and working alongside a Senior Project Manager to deliver high risk, complex or high value projects. You will work with multi-disciplinary project teams, commissioning external suppliers from our frameworks, motivating them to achieve excellent standards. Project management, team working, problem solving, client liaison and stakeholder engagement will sit at the heart of your role.
Everything you do will bring you the daily reward of knowing that you are helping to save lives, protect homes and businesses and create a better place for people and wildlife.
This will be a rewarding role as a member of the North Unit team based in Leeds or Warrington.
Ncpms, part of the National Operations and Incidents directorate, provides professional programme and project delivery for the organisation with key areas of work appraising and delivering important projects, mainly but not exclusively flood defence schemes. The North Unit of ncpms operates across the Yorkshire, North East, Greater Manchester, Merseyside & Cheshire and Cumbria & Lancashire Areas.
Working as a team is very important to us and we recognise the value each team member contributes.
Alongside a degree (or equivalent) in civil engineering, environmental science/management, geography, geology or similar, you’ll ideally have some project management, flood risk management or construction management experience.
Ideally, you will be working towards membership of a professional body such as the Institution of Civil Engineers, Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
You’ll need to demonstrate your ability to research information, collect data, solve problems, analyse options and take decisions. You’ll be a strong communicator, and an enthusiastic and motivated individual that manages your own development.
Closing date: 20 August 2017 at 23:55
