The role will support planning and response activities for all types of incident. As part of your role you will:
• Support multifunctional incident response activities for which the team act as a centre of excellence.
• Support tactical and emergency planning activities, preparing and collating information and liaising with others.
• Maintain good customer focus, enhancing the reputation of incident management and the Environment Agency by maintaining effective relationships internally and externally.
• Support delivery of cross-cutting IM improvements e.g. systems, new ways of working, efficiencies that are applicable to all incidents.
• Support training and exercising, contributing to materials and facilitating sessions.
• Support Portfolio Leads to create efficiencies such as joined roster administration, training, meetings etc.
• Be part of our debrief service, driving improvements in our incident management service.
• Assist in the management and maintenance of our incident management systems. To achieve this you’ll be trained as a super users for key IM systems including, IM Toolbox, Electronic Roster Tool, Mutual Aid Tool, Incident Management Academy and STORM.
• Ensure that incident management manuals and procedures are reviewed and updated.
• Undertake an Incident role as part of the wider Agency incident response.
The Area Incident Team is at the heart of incident management, ensuring we are ready to respond to incidents. We prepare, support and provide tactical response to all types of incidents, and deal with the increasing threats and natural hazards resulting from the climate and ecological emergency. We coordinate and assure all IM activity, including training and exercising, LRF engagement and deliver core preparation activities.
We are looking for someone:
• Able to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external partners.
• Excellent communication and engagement skills, using a range of channels and products.
• Delivers continuous improvements.
• Uses judgement/experience to tackle routine issues and seek advice on complex problems.
• Adaptable to changing priorities, sometimes at short notice due to incidents.
• Self-motivated, working well individually and part of a team.
• Makes decisions, takes ownership and achieve targets.
• Well organised, with attention to detail. Delivers work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data/information to ensure tasks are completed on time and to high standards.
• Competent IT and data skills, with the ability to pick up new processes and IT systems.
• An understanding of the role of the Environment Agency as a Category 1 responder.

The Area Incident Team are based in Tyneside House, Newcastle. However, the team currently work a blend of home and office working with occasional trips to other agency offices and locations.

Going forward we are likely to continue with a blend of office and home working where suitable and subject to work requirements.
