An exciting opportunity to play a high-profile key role shaping the future of the Flood Incident Management (FIM) Service. We are looking for forward-thinking, enthusiastic team players to transform the management, improvement and future changes to the local coastal flood forecast provision. Specifically, improvements to coastal forecasting tools or techniques and consistent procedures to support flood warning dissemination to at risk communities, as well as operational and incident led response decision making for emergency responders and community resilience.
As a Senior Advisor you will play a key role in the development and delivery of project outcomes. You will provide strong technical leadership across the flood forecasting and flood warning community, ensuring a forecast led approach is effective, efficient, and make full use of latest technology and innovation. You will provide technical leadership in the development of the programme as well as delivery through our flood forecasting team and in collaboration with our supply partners.
You will bring together diverse Incident Management and Resilience specialists, the Flood Forecasting Centre and Area Coastal Engineers and Incident Management colleagues to foster collaborative approaches to the challenge.
You will be part of a new exciting and dynamic programme team, focussed on innovation and improvements to the flood forecast provision for the EA’s Flood Incident Management Service. Supporting the provision of evidence to support a nation resilient to climate change, Evidence and Risk are the lead experts in flood hydrology, modelling, forecasting, mapping and analytics, at the forefront of the application of science to increase resilience to flooding, coastal change and environmental hazards.
You’ll have a good understanding of Flood Incident Management gained through operational experience. We are looking for someone who is skilled in implementing change affecting multiple stakeholders and who can be a dynamic, organised team player.
•An excellent understanding of the end-to-end Flood Incident Management Service and the Local Forecasting Model provision.
•Understanding of coastal process and meteorological inputs and hydrometric data and standards for coastal flood forecast modelling
•Practical experience of coastal flood forecast model development and delivery, technical leadership and continuous improvement
•Experience of leading complex technical change
•An ability to network, influence and develop strong links with colleagues
•Great communication skills, particularly in written and presentational material
•An ability to deliver results through others outside of your direct control across multiple teams.
•We are looking for a person who brings innovation to their thinking, is excited to challenge the status quo and includes everyone.
