As Flood Partnerships & Strategic Overview Senior Team Leader you will have a lead role in creating climate resilience places within the Great Ouse catchment and wider East Anglia Area.

The Great Ouse catchment is within the nationally significant Oxford-Cambridge growth corridor and contains a fantastic legacy of flood and drainage infrastructure going back 450 years to the original drainage of the Fens.

The area already has water and environmental stresses and the combination of climate change, housing growth and aging infrastructure means that there is lots of opportunity for you and your team to innovate and collaborate to turn these challenges into opportunities.

You’ll become a key member of the FCRM leadership team and will need to forge constructive, collaborative relationships with peers within the Area, other Areas and nationally, with suppliers, other Risk Management Authorities, communities and new delivery partners.

Your leadership will also be needed to help run a large operational Area of circa 780 staff across East Anglia and you’ll be trained and exercised to play an important role responding to a range of environmental incidents and emergencies.
You’ll be one of three line managers leading our Partnerships & Strategic Overview team across the Great Ouse catchment and North West Norfolk coast.
The team brings the FCRM strategic overview to life by having a wide-ranging remit that includes strategic planning, spatial planning, environmental permitting, investment strategy, data management, project development and advisory services, partnership working and community engagement.
I am looking for a climate champion and team-player who can inspire, develop and motive people to work well as a team and who actively collaborate with others to deliver even better outcomes.

Ideally having experience working locally and nationally, you’ll have experience in influencing and developing organisational approaches and leading through change. The role requires someone with a farsighted strategic outlook coupled with the ability to manage here and now delivery.

As an accomplished communicator, you’ll have a range of experience of working with diverse partners and customers, having difficult conversations and being resilient in the face of challenge.

Ideally you’ll be a chartered professional of a relevant professional body or actively working towards this goal.

Driving Licence is essential.
If you’re excited by this opportunity and want to help lead delivery of the new National FCRM Strategy within East Anglia, then please get in touch with Paul Burrows, Flood & Coastal Risk Manager by email at paul.burrows@environment-agency.gov.uk or by phone on 07824431597.
