We’re looking for Permitting Officers to join our Water Quality Permitting Team in Warrington.

The role requires technical assessment of a variety of applications to determine their suitability for issue with regard to Environment Agency, DEFRA and European regulatory obligations. To do this, where relevant, you will consult with other internal Environment Agency teams and external organisations. With the support of your team, you will be required to make risk-based decisions based on an information from a variety of sources.
You will be joining an established Permitting Team and will be supported in this role by your Senior Permitting Officer and Team Leader. The teams sit within the National Permitting Service which has responsibility for delivering the majority of the Environment Agency’s permitting responsibilities. Our teams strive to enable businesses to operate whilst protecting the environment.
We’re seeking individuals with experience in environment management and/or environmental permitting and an understanding of the Environment Agency’s role and responsibilities.

You’ll be qualified to degree level (or equivalent experience) preferably in a science or humanities subject. The following capabilities are key to the role;

Other key requirements for this job include excellent communication and customer service skills, proficiency in word, excel and database management and the ability to manage a varied workload, often with conflicting priorities.
