We’re looking for an enthusiastic person who wants to make a difference to the area in which they live and work as part of a friendly, supportive team.

As a Planning Advisor you will use your knowledge of the planning system to promote environmentally sustainable housing, commercial development and infrastructure growth within our area. Working as part of a team you’ll liaise with a range of customers and coordinate advice from technical teams on subjects including flood risk, contaminated land, wastewater infrastructure, biodiversity and pollution to watercourses. You will influence proposed development including major infrastructure projects to deliver safer development in harmony with its surrounding environment. You will lead our involvement in planning appeals. You’ll manage lower risk Local Plan consultations with support where required. You will also work closely with colleagues to continuously innovate and ensure we maintain a high quality of service.
The Sustainable Places team manages the Environment Agency’s input into development management and planning policy, working with local planning authorities and developers. The team consult and liaise with teams in the Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire area. Our area is diverse with NSIPs, and major applications creating exciting opportunities and challenging workloads. There are growth and strategic opportunities with LEP's in our area. You will join a positive, hardworking team who take pride in delivering results.
Proven experience of:
- Dealing with and advising on development issues and / or on complex environmental problems;
- Demonstrable successful influencing of organisations and individuals;
- Communicating strategic and technical issues to a range of audiences;
- Working with others to deliver environmental benefits.
- Experience of working in planning and development sector;
- Knowledge and understanding of planning system and legal framework;

Desirable experience:

- Coaching/mentoring experience.
- RTPI membership would be an advantage
