The Enforcement Officer role is an integral part of the asset performance team. Our priority is to ensure the fast conveyance of water to avoid flooding. Occasionally, activities that impedes the flow in or near to main rivers takes place and this is where the Enforcement Officer steps in. You will visit sites and meet landowners who have inadvertently or intentionally carried out works that contravene our guidance. You will help find solutions to the problem and where this is not possible consider prosecuting. Working closely with our legal team you will help to build a strong and robust case to take to court. When not engaged in enforcement you will work alongside our engineers and FCRM Officers delivering good asset management to the flood defence structures of Bath, Bristol and then Severn Estuary.
This is an exciting time to join asset performance as we have recently gained ISO55001 accreditation which places us a leading asset management organisation. The asset performance teams inspect and maintain the existing flood defence structures across the area. Our engineers act as Senior Users on multi-million pound projects to install new structures protecting housing, industry and infrastructure. We help to protect the Cities of Bath and Bristol and the Somerset levels from flooding.
Ideally you would have an enforcement background and be able to hit the ground running as this is currently a one year appointment. You will be a motivated self-starter who has a strong sense of justice and care for the environment. You will need a full and clean UK driving licence as this role will take you across several county lines. You will need to be a level headed individual who knows what to say under pressure and when the right time has come to walk away from an increasingly hostile situation. We do not ask applicants to submit a CV with their application but if you feel it will help then please do so.
Closing Date: 1st April 2019 at 23:55 hours
