As part of the Geomatics Survey Services team, you will advise on all aspects of terrestrial survey. You will support colleagues in Partnership and Strategic Overview and Asset Performance teams, as well as all other areas of the business, in the specification, scoping and procurement of topographic survey data. These surveys form a critical part of the work we do to protect communities from future flooding.

As a champion of terrestrial survey, you will also support colleagues in other teams who require training and advice in order to conduct basic topographic surveys using in house GNSS and other survey equipment.

You will need to be well organised, highly motivated and a good communicator with a professional attitude. As part of a national dispersed team of six, you will have the opportunity to work, travel and meet colleagues over at least three operational Areas. Based on our current travel policy, a lease car will be provided.
Geomatics is an internal business unit within the Environment Agency’s Monitoring Services team. Its remit is to deliver geomatics services to the Environment Agency and the wider environmental community. We are focused on delivering the highest quality data and providing a fully integrated approach to the delivery of geo-information. Combining cutting edge technology with expert personnel, we work to the highest scientific standards to provide accurate and high quality survey data and GIS ready products.
You will have a degree in a geomatics discipline with relevant topographical survey experience, or have a technical qualification with extensive experience in topographical surveying.

Experience in the procurement and management of high accuracy surveying services related to watercourses or comparable infrastructure surveying is desirable.

You will also have practical field experience and be competent in the use GNSS and optical surveying instruments.

Excellent communication skills are essential with the need to communicate effectively with colleagues, customers and contractors.
