This is an exciting opportunity for three Fisheries Enforcement Technical Specialists to join the new National Fisheries Enforcement Team.

You will provide fisheries enforcement technical advice and guidance to teams, support Areas with complex regulatory processes, thus improving the accountability, governance, and technical capability across the service.

You will be expected to demonstrate strong, effective people leadership skills, an ability to plan strategically, and work effectively at all levels with a wide range of customers both across our business, Defra and other enforcement and non-governmental organisations, support Areas with operational delivery ensuring consistency in activity response and provide technical guidance on complex regulatory processes.

You will:
- Lead by example to ensure work is consistently delivered to required standards and service levels
- Be a point of contact for up-to-date legislative knowledge for fisheries enforcement
- Provide specialist advice and support to internal teams and external partners to influence compliance with policy / legislation / best practice ways of working
- Champion an intelligence led approach across hubs
- Be the conduit for local and national queries and communications
The new National Fisheries Enforcement Team will provide operational technical support and resilience as a national once service and sit within the National Enforcement Service (NES) in Operations.

You will work daily with colleagues from across the fisheries enforcement community including Area teams, national and business leads and technical specialists within the National Enforcement Service and agencies outside the organisation.
- Sound technical and delivery knowledge of English Fisheries Legislation, Environment Agency statutory rod fishing byelaws, migratory fish such as salmon and eel, non-native species, fish supply, keeping and holding and the enforcement processes and regulation that apply to our regulatory duties and investigations.
- Knowledge of warrant requirements and would ideally hold a SAFFA warrant or have held a warrant previously. For external applicants, practical enforcement experience will be required.
- You will need to be physically fit to pass the medical and complete the training.

Other key requirements for this job include excellent communication skills, ability to work in a team but also independently, problem solving skills and the ability to prioritise and plan your own workload.
This national role is office based, location is flexible and is likely to suit a hybrid working arrangement. There may be the need for occasional travel and overnight stays as the team is dispersed.
