You will encourage compliance with the Reservoirs Act by clear and consistent communications with reservoir owners, panel engineers and members of the public. You will manage the public register and daily communications and keep electronic records of your compliance monitoring activities, using our bespoke RACE database. You will manage internal reporting, data and information requests and public register queries, in accordance with our customer charter. You will share the role of enforcement panel co-ordinator at monthly national reservoir safety enforcement panel meetings, arranging meetings and taking accurate minutes.
We are the national operational enforcement authority team for the Reservoirs Act 1975 in England. We manage the public register of large raised reservoirs. We monitor compliance and take enforcement action when necessary, to ensure that the 1982 large raised reservoirs in England are inspected and maintained in accordance with the requirements of the Act. The purpose of the Act is to prevent dam breaches and the catastrophic flooding that could result.
From an environmental, legal, scientific or engineering background, you will ideally have a good all round appreciation of Environment Agency core business. With excellent IT, communications and organisational skills and be a team player.
The job is predominantly office based, but occasionally involves national travel. You will need excellent communication skills to build rapport, influence and work with others from across England to achieve your aims.
This is a part-time job share (0.6 FTE, 22.2 hours per week).
