You will provide specialist technical support to our field teams to enable the safe and efficient delivery of our annual asset maintenance programme, ensuring that our flood risk management assets are in good condition. You will also support our incident response duties and be involved in the planning, exercising and responding to both flood and environmental incidents
The Essex teams are based at our 4 depots at Cattawade, Leewick, Southminster and Benfleet. The primary roles of the teams are to prepare and respond to incidents. Plan and enable delivery of the Environment Agency's maintenance programme. Maintain flood defences and other Environment Agency equipment on the ground. Work with other teams in the Environment Agency to protect properties and improve environments
Provide effective leadership on health and safety matters.

Ensure work on site fully complies with the Environment Agency's conservation and environmental policies and procedures to minimise the risk of environmental damage.
Lead an effective delivery service for an emergency response capability for floods and environmental incidents to minimise the impact of the incident.
Provide support and information to the Team Leader on scheduling of resources.
Work flexibly and lead work groups over a designated area, on high hazard/specialist operational sites to safely, efficiently and effectively deliver the works.

Have strong IT skills and familiarity with mobile technology
Hours of work: 37 hours per week.

Grade Rate: £26,869

Location: Based at one of the 4 depots, Cattawade, Leewick, Southminster and Benfleet.

The role is office and field based, with daily travel to and from sites. Candidates need full, clean UK driving licence.

The job requires frequent contact with people outside the department in order to provide or obtain information. The ability to clearly express oneself is important. The job requires courteous behaviour in face-to-face dealings with other employees and members of the public.

Field Delivery
This role is responsible for ensuring maintenance programmes are kept to schedule and within budget, whilst maintaining high Health & Safety standards. Please could you provide an example of where you have managed successful projects and budgets and ensured that all machinery and materials are at the correct specification
Workforce Planning
In this role you will be responsible for planning and organising the schedule of works for field teams. Please could describe a time when you planned, scheduled and delivered a programme of work with particular consideration of communication with landowners/occupiers and the public to ensure full awareness of works to be undertaken
Coaches Others
In a support capacity this role will assist the Team Leader in the development of team members, in addition to organising and running Incident Response training for the team. Please could you provide an example of how you have developed others through coaching and mentoring techniques in an incident response or maintenance environment
Full Clean Driving licence required
