Safe and effective operation of Lower River Thames locks, weirs and other assets relies on this post holder. Being qualified in electrical systems, you provide advice and solutions to our Operations, Flood risk, Hydrometry & Telemetry and Waterways departments. You act as an interface between our framework contractors and audit the quality of their work. Co-ordinate our programme of planned preventative maintenance on our assets. The post is both field and office based. You will also have MEICA technical support from our Supra Area MEICA team. The role is not ‘on the tools’. This person will be required to manage the reactive repair of breakdowns and small projects through the use of our framework contractors. You will need to call in the correct contractors, advise on the most suitable repair, check the contractors risk assessments and method statements, raise purchase orders and work instructions, manage budgets, liaise between the contractors and EA staff and check the work on completion.
This role sits within the Asset Performance Lower Thames team based at Goldcrest House, Farnham. Part of the Operations department.
Previous experience in an M&E (mechanical & electrical) role is desirable. You will need strong problem solving skills and experience and be confident in using our range of IT systems to keep work programmes on track. You will have current electrical qualifications. You will be strong at managing relationships with different contractors and will have a good health and safety track record.

Demonstrate delivery of works including the repair, installation, routine design, inspection, test and maintenance of equipment to ensure MEICA statutory obligations and engineering standards are met.
Takes Decisions and Solves Problems
The role regularly requires you to solve problems, provide examples of problems you've solved, how you did that and the difference it made.

Demonstrate a strong approach to health and safety, giving examples of how your intervention has created a safer working environment.
Contracts & Relationship Management
Provide examples where you've made interventions after identifying poor contractor performance and how you did this. Demonstrate how you've managed good working relationships with a range contractors.
