We are looking for an exceptionally talented Fisheries Technical Officer to join our Fisheries Biodiversity and Geomorphology (FBG) Team in Shrewsbury.

As part of our team you’ll get involved in river habitat improvement schemes and a variety of partnership projects aimed at delivering WFD outcomes and enhancing biodiversity.

You'll provide expert technical input to projects and provide project management role on behalf of the Environment Agency. You'll also provide high quality advice to a variety of customers; this will cover work such as fish passage improvements, FCRM schemes and maintenance, planning applications, hydropower, land drainage consents and fisheries management advice.
You'll join a friendly, passionate and high performing team working with a mix of rural and urban, upland and lowland rivers, species and habitats.

The team delivers a range of WFD improvement projects which may require your advice and support.

The team also supports other internal and external partners to enhance the rivers, estuaries and wetlands, focusing on delivering our Water Framework Directive local priorities to create sustainable habitat and improved ecology.
We're seeking technical officers with field and office-based experience and a proven ability of delivering, fisheries and/or conservation work.
You'll have a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline as well as being able to demonstrate the following:
• excellent positive communications, influencing and persuasion skills

• the ability to build, develop and nurture relationships

• Project Management experience

• full UK driving licence required

• experience in fisheries regulation, management and enforcement operations

• strong organisational skills, self starting and able to work independently planning, and delivering own workload and able to work as part of a team.
