We are the Environment Agency. We operate where environmental change has greatest impact on people’s lives. Acting to reduce impacts of climate change on people and wildlife is at the heart of everything we do. We work with government, local councils, businesses, civil society groups and communities to make our environment a better place for people and wildlife.

We’re investing £2.5billion between now and 2021 to reduce flood risk to 300,000 homes across the UK. It’s an exciting time and we need your help to ensure that this work is delivered with full attention to environmental impact.

The role draws upon a diverse range of skills. Working closely with other teams, you will be involved in:

• Ensuring that engineering projects are environmentally compliant
• Screening, planning and co-ordinating delivery of EIAs
• Working with a variety of environmental stakeholders
• Identifying environmental opportunities delivering multiple benefits
• Working with external suppliers and other Environment Agency specialists within integrated project teams
• Strategic Environmental Assessment of strategies and plans

There are opportunities to get involved with incident management and we have a flexible range of roles you can volunteer for and you’ll get all the training and support you need.
NEAS specialise in evaluation of environmental and social risk and how it effects the Agency’s strategic plans and major infrastructure projects. We ensure that we correctly identify potential environmental risk at an early stage and work as a client service with Area and the project team, using the tools of EIA or SEA, to manage any inherent socio-environmental risks and deliver positive outcomes. The team provide the Agency’s professional resources in Heritage and Landscape Architecture.
You'll have excellent communication skills and the ability to develop strong relationships with internal and external partners. For the senior roles, it’s advantageous to have project management skills too.
For this role, you must have an environmental background and a relevant degree (or equivalent) and are working towards a relevant professional qualification such as Associate or Practitioner IEMA. We are always looking at good practice from other sectors and so experience in the water industry is not essential, if you have valuable experience to offer.
You'll need to hold a full UK driving licence.

More information about the role and application process can be found in the candidate pack.
