This role is primarily involved with water chemistry data generation and analysis. This is likely to include:
1. Extracting water quality data from EA databases, in response to data requests and for EA requirements
2. Carrying out investigations of this data where problems are identified.
3. Being Area lead for automatic water quality instrumentation, liaising with national and Area colleagues.
4. Carrying out site visits and adding details of new monitoring sites to relevant systems.
5. Part of an Area team acting as a database administrator for sample archive.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team with ecologists and fish specialists as well as a across teams with water quality planners, enforcement and data collection teams.

Some field work is required.

We as an Agency take part in incident response. Participation in supporting is very much encouraged, covering both environment management and flooding incidents. If successful your line manager will discuss arrangements with you depending on your role and circumstances.

The Analysis and Reporting team based in Brampton is a multidisciplinary team covering water chemistry, ecology and fisheries in freshwater and saline aquatic environments. Our main aim is to collect and assess information on the state of the environment in order to feed into the work of other teams and departments. We work closely with our Analysis and Reporting colleagues in the East of the catchment.
You must have training or experience in scientific methodology and data analysis, preferably to degree level.
Experience of using Excel and Word is essential and experience of working with water quality data is highly desirable.
Ideally you will have some familiarity with EA databases such as MIDAS, WIMS and SlimWIMS and some experience of using Access.
You should be well organised, have good attention to detail and prioritise good customer service.
You need to be able to work effectively on your own and as part of a team and be able to produce clear written work.

A full UK driving licence is essential.

Membership of or working towards CIWEM preferred but not essential

You will be willing to undertake specialist/or further training when necessary.
