We’re looking for an Engagement Specialist to lead the engagement for the proposed Heathrow Airport Expansion and other Major Infrastructure Projects and ultimately make sure that our reputation in the community is enhanced. You’ll need to be able to work with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure that engagement is seen as top priority. You’ll work closely with colleagues to make sure that we join up our engagement across teams and functions and have a strategic overview of all things engagement. You’ll manage communications around the Statement of Common Ground for projects submitting Development Consent Order applications. You’ll lead on our engagement and attend meetings with public body groups such as the Heathrow Strategic Planning Group. You will work with external stakeholders to produce engagement plans. You’ll also be expected to support communications and engagement during incidents.

You’ll be an expert communicator – people will come to you for advice, guidance and leadership in engagement. You’ll lead by example and demonstrate behaviours that facilitate constructive conversations and collaborative working.
We are creating a new team which will provide a dedicated full time resource, with a greater ability to focus wholly on the proposed expansion at London Heathrow Airport as well as other Major Infrastructure Projects. The team will consist of specialist staff across a number of disciplines who will be contributing their expertise and knowledge to the project.
We’re seeking an engagement specialist with experience of working with stakeholders and planning and doing engagement.

You’ll have proven ability of:

• Engagement planning – ideally external engagement campaigns/projects, and with creativity to identify innovative engagement opportunities;
• Troubleshooting tricky situations – being able to listen, reflect and question the situation to understand the facts and find common ground and a way forward;
• Putting the customer first – you’ll be a strong communicator with drive, enthusiasm and a genuine interest in telling a compelling message to our audiences;
• Collaboration – you’ll have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, supported by very strong written and verbal communication skills and seek to resolve conflict in a collaborative way;
• A sparkling knowledge of the Working With Others approach.
