We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised person to work within the Environment Planning & Engagement Team (EPE) in this exciting, new role.
This is a key role, which will help ensure that as an organisation we will continue to be able to protect and enhance our environment.
As an Area Income Advisor you will help the business develop commercial awareness enabling it to adapt to the changing financial landscape. Minimising outstanding debt and maximising income opportunities is key for this role.
You will also:
• Apply effective ways of working to maximise our current regulatory cost recovery service, developing increasing commercial focus to the role to find new opportunities to recover money.
• Lead for your area on income and debt recovery, using your business and finance knowledge
• Use your broad commercial awareness to make decisions regarding spend on commercial opportunities both locally and nationally.
• Influence and motivate people to increase our debt recovery.
• Provide a high standard of data management and recording skills,
• Show leadership awareness of cultural changes and developments within the business and from a wider national perspective.
The Environment Agency operates across England and our teams are geographically orientated so that we can focus our efforts on supporting local communities and businesses.
You will be based in one of our 14 operational Areas within our Environment Planning & Engagement department. Your work will require interaction with various internal teams; from regulated industry to flood and coastal risk management and with a variety of external customers and stakeholders.
With a financial background and previous commercial experience you will have the ability to quickly understand how we work as a business. Your excellent communication, auditing and interpersonal skills will be complimented by your enthusiasm to achieve results.
With excellent communication skills and an infinitely for business development you will have the ability to engage with and influence a wide range of stakeholders. You will also need to be able to present complex information in a clear and engaging way. Good planning skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver to tight timescales are also key. Previous auditing experience is desirable.
This is a permanent position.

Data and Information Management

Gathering robust, accurate data/information to enable you to make the most of commercial opportunities both internally and across the broader external regulatory industry will be a vital aspect of this role.
Supplying detailed financial analysis of spends on projects and investments will also be key to this role and you should be able to prepare and present your findings in a logical and well-structured manner that can be readily accessed and understood by a wide audience.

Securing Financial Resources

Working to identify opportunities to maximise income in line with business priorities, and putting in place plans and processes to secure financial resources. You will need an understanding of how costs are allocated and how the Environment Agency’s cost recovery and cost allocation schemes function.
Maintaining and maximising income from existing relationships and establishing and maintaining good working relationships with existing business partners.

Reviews charging models, taking into account anticipated income and potential risks. Seeks out new and innovative opportunities to maximise income and manages the process of securing that income. Effectively identifies and manages risks with regard to funding opportunities.
