We’re looking for an experienced Facilities Management Officer at our Kielder Salmon Centre to provide a comprehensive, efficient and effective range of Facilities Services to provide a safe, well maintained, legally compliant and productive workplace.

Tasks could include:

• Administration, compliance checks and required recording of electrical, gas, fire and water systems
• Work with our internal partners at the Environment Agency to delivery procurement, and planning for safe management of contractors visiting site.
• Deliver our Internal Environmental management delivery and checks.
• Support with delivery of construction project at the Salmon Centre.
• Working with internal partners and contractors deliver our carbon net zero strategy.
• Work with the team to support Salmon, Trout, Pearl mussel and other species rearing of these species to the highest standards
• As part of the team provide standby cover/key holder responsibilities for the site .
• Assist with general maintenance and cleaning of the grounds and buildings to maintain a great working environment.

As part of the team , you will be provided with some basic fish husbandry training in order to occasionally assist the wider team, though no experience in this is required other than a willingness to learn!
Located in the stunning and remote area around Kielder Water, Northumberland National Park, our Salmon Centre provides an excellent education centre alongside a working salmon and sea trout fish hatchery.

Not including this post, the Centre is the full time base for three friendly and passionate members of staff who rear our fish, and manage our pioneering Pearl Mussel Programme.
They are supported by our wider Fisheries and Biodiversity Teams based in our Newcastle Office.
This post requires a Facilities Management practitioner with office and/or depot based experience who will be happy getting involved in a broad range of site management tasks.

Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) and proven ability and/or knowledge of:

- Facilities Management or similar, Health & Safety, Premises Maintenance and Internal Environmental Management
- Compliance regulations for premises
- Building relationships with customers, customer service and effective resolution of issues
- Managing contractors, suppliers and stakeholders, understanding their activities and how these fit with organisational goals and reputation
- Local project management
- Monitoring & providing property performance reports
- Creation and implementation of Planned Preventative Maintenance schedule
- Excellent communication and team working skills.
- A full and valid UK Drivers Licence
