Estimators are an integral part of the wider Contract Assurance & Framework Management Team. Their role is key to ensuring that Integrated Delivery Teams are provided with cost intelligence, estimation, and assurance services. Responsibilities include;
• Producing under supervision estimates of project and whole-life cost from project inception to construction contract award through use of EA’s proprietary tools such as the Project Cost Tool, ERIC whole life carbon planning tool and the Cost and Carbon Tool. Training on Environment Agency specific applications and tools will be provided to successful candidates.
• Advise project teams on the Client Set Target prices for NEC4 PSC and ECC contracts and compensation events.
• Providing support and buildability advice to find efficient project solutions. Provide advice and support to project teams on how to reduce cost on construction projects.
• Compiling actual cost data into the correct format and uploading it to the database.
• Maintaining estimate records.

You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The Estimating team provide an estimating and commercial intelligence service to advise decision making; evidence and support estimation; provide sound methodology; provide whole life estimates and assure client set targets for contracts.
Knowledge of estimating ability using first principles and top down using model driven data.
Experience of estimating for professional services and construction contracts.
Foundation knowledge of standard forms of construction contracts (NEC3 and 4) and the infrastructure and construction industry.
Combination of professionalism in dealing with stakeholders and confidence in representing the client or contractor’s interests in Value for Money and Client set target costs.
Awareness or training in carbon management.
Excel, finance, and commercial skills.
Project management and personal time management.
Willingness to work towards appropriate accreditation i.e, ACostE/RICS accredited (or equivalent).
