This role is crucial for the management of our reputation across the Kent, South London & East Sussex Area. Working closely with your colleagues, you will provide a high level of service across the Area. You will support proactive engagement by working across the business to engage with our key communities and stakeholders, dealing with high profile projects and issues of high public interest.
Amongst other projects, you will take a lead on shaping Flood & Coastal Risk Management’s engagement strategy through anticipating and identifying trends/shifts in relevant political, economic, technological and/or environmental developments to meet the diverse needs of customers, stakeholders and communities.
Working closely with the Team Leader and Area Leadership Team, you’ll help provide direction to the team, ensuring that outputs are timely and of appropriate quality.
Building and maintaining productive and influential relationships with internal and external customers and partners will be at the heart of your role, as will ensuring that messages around sensitive and emotive issues are clear and consistent. You will also:
• help construct and deliver multiple engagement projects
• enable, mentor and coach others to deliver outstanding customer focus
• advise senior managers on engagement best practice
• support your projects and incidents with MP engagement and executive correspondence where needed
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The Secretaries and Engagement team are a busy team that works with others to deliver excellent customer service in Kent, South London and East Sussex. We are the hub of the area, supporting the business by managing our relationship with communities, MPs and the general public. We manage a diverse range of requests from active and informed customers are essential to business delivery by providing support and guidance to our area and leadership teams.
