We’re looking for someone to lead vital communications and engagement work for the Carriers, Brokers and Dealers (CBD) regime. This role is part of a major Regulatory Reform project that’s set to transform how we regulate and enforce waste movement across the country. It’s a rare opportunity to help shape once-in-a-generation change.

You’ll play a key role in making sure the transition to new ways of working is smooth and successful. Your ability to connect with people and communicate clearly will be essential.

What you’ll do:
•   Lead the development and delivery of the CBD reform communications and engagement strategy
•   Use creative and proven approaches to improve how we communicate across the regime
•   Build and lead long-term engagement with local authorities, community groups and police forces nationwide
This role is part of the Waste Controllers and Tracking (WCAT) team, within Waste Industry Regulatory Services (WIRS) under National Operations. We are a high-performing, geographically dispersed team delivering priority technical work that supports waste regimes and leads national projects. The Carriers, Brokers and Dealers (CBD) regime is jointly managed by E&B Waste Regulation and WIRS, who lead the organisation’s CBD efforts, supporting government, industry, and colleagues.
You’ll bring strong communications expertise and confidence in delivering impactful engagement. You’ll anticipate risks and develop strategies to manage them, drawing on your specialist knowledge to connect effectively with customers and partners nationwide. You’ll be able to showcase successful campaigns you’ve designed and led.
Knowledge of waste compliance, environmental regulation, and enforcement processes is desirable but not essential. A strong customer focus and the ability to deliver results through others are key.

The office base is flexible, and you’ll work within a dispersed team. Travel to London, Birmingham, Sheffield, Bristol, and other locations will be required.
