Programme and Project Management, Senior Leadership
£44,477
As Senior Project Manager, you will play a leading role within our high performing and collaborative Project teams. You’ll have complete accountability for some of our most impressive and demanding projects, often focussed on our flood risk asset management programme. You will be a role model as a talented expert who is a trusted source of advice. You will be a strong mentor and hold a business portfolio in an area you are passionate about. You will also have demonstrated strong commercial acumen in contract management and developing effective and trusting supply partner relationships.

Naturally, you will build strong collaborative relationships, shaping thinking at the initial strategic planning phase all the way into implementation, construction and delivery; with Project Executive experience being most advantageous. Your role as an outstanding communicator, collaborator and influencer will be critical to the success of the high performing teams, leading and inspiring the integrated project team including our supply partners.

The variability of the role is wide and exciting; leading multi-million pound contract negotiations one day, talking to local communities the next. The role will involve key contract management activities, report writing, cost monitoring and forecasting, feasibility assessment, outline design, environmental management and construction management.
We are Programme and Contracts Management (PCM), creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management. You will become part of an award-winning team that provides areas, alongside national services and centres, with an effective project and programme management service. Our strong, well-qualified teams manage projects throughout their lifecycle to deliver environmental improvements, adding value and resulting in a greater sense of shared ownership with local communities.
You will need a relevant degree such as in civil engineering, environmental science or geography, and a deeply impressive history in both contract and project management. Ideally, but not exclusively, you will have experience working on civil engineering projects and be a natural innovator, expert negotiator and champion of good practice. You’ll bring an inspirational gravitas that ensures everything’s done on time to quality and budget.

As a minimum, you’ll need at least six years’ project management experience plus a project management qualification such as PRINCE2 or APM, ideally qualified to practitioner level. You will be a member of a related professional body, ideally chartered, though we can support you towards this. However, what will set you apart is your exceptional record of delivering complex, high-risk projects successfully – and your natural ability to bring big-picture thinking that improves the methods, behaviours and processes with the people you work with.
For further information on the role contact Simon Allam on 07769575193 or simon.allam@environment-agency.gov.uk.

Please see the candidate pack for details of our benefits, such as pension provision, leave entitlement, training/learning opportunities and flexible working practices.

Salary from £44,477 (potentially more for exceptional candidates, based on skills and experience).

Driving licence ideally required. Lease car available where there is a clear business need. Regional and national travel and occasional overnight stays required.

Interviews are anticipated to take place w/c 15 October 2019.

When providing evidence for competencies, give examples of how you demonstrate these either within the context of this role or as transferable skills. CVs / documents attached to your application will not be assessed for selection.
