This role is varied and draws upon a diverse range of transferrable skills. Working closely with other teams, you can expect to be involved in the following:
• Developing programmes of work for the construction of new flood defences, and repair of existing defences.
• Tracking project expenditure and performance.
• Advising on the status of individual projects and the wider programme.
• Analysing data and preparing reports.
• Supplying information to internal and external customers.
The Programme Team tracks spending, delivery and performance in completing programmes to create and repair new flood defences. We advise on the status of the programme, risks and opportunities. This role is key to our understanding of a large programme delivered by a range of different teams. We also supply information to national teams and the Regional Flood and Coastal Committee, and brief communities, politicians and partners on progress.
We are looking for candidates who are degree qualified in an Environmental or Engineering discipline or hold equivalent experience. It’s advantageous to have a project/programme management background. You are required to have demonstrable ability in the following areas:
• Strong organisational and interpersonal skills and a proven ability to use MS Office (in particular data manipulation in Excel).
• Understand and enjoy working with data and demonstrate sound knowledge of Project and Programme Management.
• GIS skills would be advantageous.
• Present convincing verbal and written advice and have a practical approach to problem solving.
• Proactive approach and fresh perspective will ensure you’re always looking towards continuous improvement.
• A proven record of working with customers and delivering on time is essential.

The successful candidate will need to travel to various Environment Agency offices, and to partner organisations so you will need a full driving licence.

The post is a maternity cover backfill until 01/06/2019.
Grade Rate: £27,138.
Location: Our Blandford Forum office. The role will involve regular travelling to our Bridgwater office to support project managers in both locations.
A full driving licence is required.
