We are looking for someone with energy and motivation to supervise a small team in a customer facing environment. Teddington is our gateway Lock to the non-tidal Thames and in turn one of our flagship sites which operates 24 hours a day. This site is our front line to boaters coming onto this waterway. It also acts as the hub for our incident management across the entire river. Residing in the lock cottage, you will be supervising a dynamic team working at this busy and vibrant site. You and your team will be required to work a 24/7 shift rota.

Tasks

Supervision of the Lock site and a small team.
Working with other teams to achieve expected outcomes.
Having an overview of the site and team to ensure its running effectively.
Leading on the performance of our incident management 24 hour duty desk
Ensuring the shifts at Teddington take priority and are always covered using other staff where required.
Dealing with any absence issues which may arise and cover is needed
Supporting the patch Team Leader by solving staff, site and safety problems.

Additionally the role will be responsible for compliance checking, general water level, navigation and site management.
The Thames Waterways department has a responsibility to manage the navigation of the non-tidal River Thames. This includes 45 lock and weir complexes and our primary aim is to provide a first class service to all our customers. The department comprises lock and weir keepers and support staff in operational, compliance, commercial development and business teams. The role advertised is based in an operational team at Teddington Lock.

• Role requires candidate to reside in our adjacent property under service occupancy agreement.
• Outer London weighting, 20% Rotating shift allowance and duty desk allowance will be payable to the successful applicant.

• Full training will be given once in post. This will include water safety training, PACE level 1 warrant training and training on specialised systems and processes.
