You will manage a multidisciplinary team with a varied range of technical, engineering and construction skills that contribute to delivery of work programmes that ensure our assets are performing at their best. Taking a risk based approach in modernising asset management. Through considering assets over their life cycle to reduce flood risk to the communities they protect.
Promoting and reinforcing the Environment Agency’s vision and culture. Motivating and empowering team members to achieve their potential. Being visible and available to provide guidance and wellbeing support when required particularly through organisational change.
Building good relationships, internally and externally and managing the team budgets. This includes forecasting, identifying risk to spend, efficiency savings and ensuring end of financial year targets are met.
Your team will be contributing to the development of asset maintenance and repair programmes through intelligent client and senior user roles.
Managing and promoting Health Safety and Wellbeing of team members, while ensuring the correct training is received and competencies are maintained to carry out asset and incident management activities.
Undertaking the role of Responsible Officer (RO), ensuring compliance with legislation, safety, security and environmental control.
Based out of either our Oxford or Farnham office. You will support a team of ten to manage all stages of the asset lifecycle, from planning new assets to decommissioning. The team inspects assets through visual and detailed assessment, develops work programmes through collaboration with other teams to ensure they fit with business strategies. Perform the role of CDM (Construction Design Management) client on asset construction and improvement projects.
Ideally with a technical or engineering background, you will have demonstrated proven people leadership skills to provide clear direction, instruction and guidance through effective performance management. Ability to recognise strengths, vulnerabilities and motivations within a team. Inspiring skills development and embedding organisational change.
Have strong budget management skills and a track record of project and programme delivery, with a sound grasp of engineering and construction principles.
A relevant degree (or similar) and a professional qualification such as Institute of Asset Management Certificate or Incorporated / Chartered status is beneficial but not essential.
