The Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) Officer role is vital to the effective/efficient running of our flood risk pumping stations, water control structures and our wider business. You will be joining a MEICA team helping to prioritise, plan and deliver the maintenance or replacement of our crucial assets enabling flood protection to homes, businesses and the environment; which will have an increasingly important role as we face the challenge of global climate change. Following our recent ISO55001 Asset Management accreditation, you will be working closely with external contractors to develop a world class asset management organisation.

The role will be responsible for co-ordinating, directing, approving and participating in the delivery of MEICA works using Computerised Maintenance Management Software with the ability to schedule works, plan financially and ensuring administration tasks are up to date. You will help manage our asset data/records management to ensure it is of the best quality and can be relied upon to inform our maintenance/investment programmes.
You will provide technical instructions to ensure staff across the area team involved with electrical and mechanical works comply with statutory legislation, British and European standards together with Environment Agency’s codes of practices, procedures and related guidance.
Joining our friendly and essential North West MEICA Team you will report to the North West MEICA Team Leader, acting as technical leader on MEICA activity and will participate in our response to flood incidents. You will provide technical, electrical/mechanical support and direction to other team members and be responsible for liaising with a wide range of business partners and leading on actions on behalf of the North West MEICA Team Leader and Operations Managers.
- Effective planning skills with the ability to prioritise and deliver to tight deadlines
- Excellent IT skills and experience of managing and interpreting data
- A good understanding of Asset Management and Asset Management computer systems such as computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) will be an advantage
- Highly motivated self-starter
- Outcome focussed. You will need to demonstrate you can deliver the required tasks
- Educated to a minimum ONC level or equivalent vocational experience
- Great verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound decision making based on data and evidence.

You will ideally be a professionally recognised mechanical or electrical engineer
Salary £22,792 (additional £3,000 p.a. for an Incorporated MEICA engineer)
