Property Flood Resilience (PFR) measures enable homeowners and businesses to reduce the risk of flooding and speed up recovery. PFR is a crucial part of property owners, technical specialists, professionals and risk management authorities response to existing and predicted flood risk. However, the take-up of PFR in the UK is still low.
You will provide specialist advice internally and externally to help inform and shape working approaches, policy and legal decisions for our organisation. This involves working collaboratively with a range of partners, including government, businesses, regulators, insurers, academics, international partners, and others, in an advisory capacity. You will need to Influence outcomes by building and maintaining effective relationships.
This role provides a unique opportunity for someone with a detailed technical knowledge of PFR and the associated incentives and barriers to the up-take of such measures. This role will help to fundamentally understand the behavioural insights surrounding PFR and help shape the future landscape of engagement around this subject, with the aim of increasing the level of up-take.
As a senior specialist, you'll be able to guide the development of new areas of work and change. This role will commission and co-ordinate activities in response to legislation, policy, and evidence.
The FCRM Strategy and Engagement Team - We work with, advise and support national teams to ensure that engagement is embedded across the different FCRM activities and we identify and share good engagement practice. We also set the direction and provide strategic leadership and support to area FCRM teams as they engage with communities to manage flood risk.
• Provides specialist expertise and guidance on a range of PFR related issues, to ensure the effective implementation of legislation, policy, and evidence.
• Identifies gaps in current knowledge and understanding and commissions or leads new work.
• Interacts widely, developing and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally, to influence decisions and bring about successful outcomes and solutions.
• Leads and manages work directly and through others.
• Identifies risks and opportunities, taking action to deal with issues.
• Develops, maintains and shares technical expertise with staff to improve knowledge and competence throughout the organisation as required.
• Experience gained within the PFR discipline.
• A thorough understanding of relevant business concepts and their application.
• Ability to apply considerable judgement and influence the actions and behaviours of others.
• Shapes and facilitates new ways of working.
