This is the perfect opportunity to gain experience in an operational role. You will work closely with Catchment Delivery Teams and across Area teams, Natural England and Forestry Commission, and develop your wider understanding of the business.

We are looking for an individual to lead our strategic environment planning including river basin management planning, Evidence Commissioning and the Area Integrated Plan. In particular, you will work across departments to ensure Thames Area responds to opportunities coming our way whilst facilitating delivery of the 25 Year Environment Plan. You’ll be expected to provide the link between Catchment Delivery Teams and the Water Land and Biodiversity Board. You’ll also be expected to work with colleagues nationally through technical groups such as the Catchment Planning Technical Leads Network. In addition you’ll provide secretariat to our One Defra working, pulling together our 2019/20 Area Integrated Plan
The Strategic Planning and Engagement Team sits within the Environment Planning and Engagement department of Thames Area. The team’s vision is “To deliver great environmental outcomes by leading and supporting the Area’s strategic planning, engagement and commercial approach” The team leads in proactive engagement and major infrastructure projects, as well as advising on planning, engagement and taking a natural capital approach.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can lead others and see the bigger picture. You’ll have strong organisational skills and good knowledge of the Area and our Water Land and Biodiversity priorities. We are looking for someone with broad networks across the Area and wider business who has experience using these to achieve results. A good knowledge of river basin management planning and our monitoring programme would be desirable.
You will need the approval of your line manager to go on assignment.
