Our Asset Performance teams help to protect against flooding and minimise the risks caused by any floods that do occur. You will help to develop our flood asset maintenance programme, providing administrative support to our patch leads and managing our asset data systems. Your enthusiasm and positive attitude will help you find solutions that deliver our priorities effectively.

You will perform an essential role in ensuring that people and property are protected from flooding by helping us to take the right investment decision at the right time; based upon robust data and excellent knowledge of our assets. There is a requirement to work in partnership and maintain productive relationships with our own field teams, contractors, and partner regulators/advisors.

Your day to day tasks will vary such that you may be organising asset maintenance activities one day, undertaking data work the next day and liaising with our Field Team or completing utility searches on another. You also have the opportunity to get involved in incident response and take a role in co-ordinating our operatives during a flood event. This is a hugely rewarding role that can provide a lot of job satisfaction and opportunities for professional development.
Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) is the largest department at the Environment Agency. Our teams plan, design and manage flood risk improvement projects, working in partnership with communities and other organisations to protect people and property from future flood risk.

We are looking for flexible and future focused individuals who can adapt to changing priorities, enjoy working with diverse customers and are keen to work in the environment and flood sector.
It’s important that you’re skilled at managing multiple priorities and competing demands. You will be an excellent communicator and must also understand the importance of teamwork and collaboration. In particular, you will have experience managing data and information including MS Office. Formal qualifications in data and information management (e.g. GIS) and project management (e.g. PRINCE2) are advantageous but not essential.

The key things we’re looking for are transferrable skills and capabilities, so do not be put off applying if you don’t have a degree and/or you don’t have experience in this sector.

As an entry level grade we welcome all backgrounds, preferably with an interest in engineering, geography or environmental science discipline.
Closing Date: 24th April 2019 23:55hours

Due to internal movement there is the potential for multiple positions (Permanent & Fixed Term Contract) to become available located in Preston, Penrith & Levens Nr Kendal.

Everyone starting in a new role with the Environment Agency will be welcomed into the team and given all of the training and support needed to develop and succeed.

As part of your comprehensive induction you will also be provided with all the equipment required for your role.

There are also many fully funded opportunities to develop further academic/professional qualifications.
