We are looking for a professional individual with knowledge and experience of different industrial sectors, to be responsible for the regulation of installations under the Environmental Permitting Regulations. You will ensure permit compliance, assess operator ability to protect the environment, prevent pollution and optimise resources.

Although comprehensive technical skills are desirable, effective influencing and negotiating skills are essential to secure best practice. You will be able to deal with technical and different management levels within industry, local communities and other interested groups. You will be expected to respond to, investigate and undertake enforcement to a range of environmental incidents.

As a technical leader you will be expected to work autonomously, make decisions, and engage with others to seek or provide support where needed.
The post will be in the Installations North team regulating sites in Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire; the predominant work area will be the highly industrialised South Humber Bank, together with the rural areas of Lincolnshire.
You will also support and advise other teams across the Area on industry sector regulation and compliance aspects.
As a senior member of the team, you will role model our organisation’s values, setting an example for other team members.
We are seeking a proactive, self-motivated and a confident communicator, used to influencing and negotiating to deliver outcomes, with strong interpersonal skills; together with well-developed technical expertise and regulatory experience within an industrial environment.

A successful applicant would have an invested interest in the proposals for the decarbonisation of the Humber Bank; would be able to lead our regulatory work and secure compliance to meet these ambitious targets for the UK.

We are particularly interested in individuals who have experience or transferable skills within process industry, preferably in chemical, combustion, refining, oil and gas or landfill sectors. A knowledge of COMAH would be desirable.

You will be able to demonstrate an ability to secure compliance through virtual and physical audit programmes together with analysis and interpretation of environmental monitoring and performance data.
A full UK driving licence is essential. You will also be expected to take up an appropriate incident management role.
