The post is for an operations Team Member 2A and represents the organisations front line response to flooding and pollution incidents. As a Team member you will operate our assets and defences in the event of a flood incident and put our contingency plans into action in the event of asset failure. You will also deliver the routine maintenance programme and in doing so repair failing defences and improve the conveyance of water courses so they are in a fit state to cope with severe weather events. You must also be willing to work outdoors in all weathers PPE provided.
The Herts & North London West Field team is based at Hanwell Depot, where you would normally start your day but currently this is a designated pick up point nearer the area in which we work which is Edgware, Borehamwood, Watford and surrounding areas. We deliver a maintenance programme on rivers and watercourses across the area and respond to flooding and environmental incidents both day and night on a rota basis.
You should demonstrate a positive adaptable approach and a ‘can do’ attitude as a worthy team player. Good organisational skills and an ability to work under pressure during incidents is essential. You must understand site health and safety requirements (training given) and you’ll also need good communication skills to work in a team and with customers and partners.
We would like you to have a good level of environmental awareness and experience with tablet style computers and familiarity with mobile technology will be useful. Willing to learn and practical skills are very important to this roll.
Full UK driving licence is essential.

This role attracts London Weighting allowance of £1,873 per year.
