An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Hertfordshire and North London Asset Performance team for 6 months. You will be taking on the work of creating a new set of asset inspection programmes and using your strategic skills to influence how they can be delivered effectively and efficiently using the tools and staff available to the asset performance teams.

Our flood assets range from critical large flood defence schemes and reservoirs through to small outfalls and flap valves. We perform an essential role in ensuring that people and property are protected from flooding by taking the right investment decision at the right time; based upon robust data. This data is collected through our essential asset inspection programmes.

You will be linking all the inspection programmes together, to ensure they run cohesively alongside each other and no work is missed or double tasked. You will ensure any data errors are corrected and that the full programme of works is set up in our new AIMS O&M database. All inspection programmes will be checked against the operational instructions to ensure all aspects of the inspection process for certain asset types are being followed correctly and completed in a timely manner.
Asset management plays a huge part in the work that the Environment Agency does; helping to protect against flooding and minimising the risks caused by any floods that occur. The work we do directly and in partnership with others reduces flood risk to communities. We look after a diverse range of assets in our area and we are a mix of engineers, asset managers, data officers, and asset inspectors.
You need to be a confident user of IT, especially products such as databases and excel. Your main work will be in AIMS OM and following word based operational instructions.

You must have excellent data/information extrapolation skills. You will need to pull out the required information from operational instructions in order to ensure any inspection programmes encompass all that is required. And interpret/use data from the current databases in order to create an improved programme.

You will be a confident communicator so that you can work with internal colleagues to extrapolate information or showcase the new inspection programme to staff to ensure it is user friendly, logical and practical to be completed on the ground by asset inspectors.

You will be self-organised, self-driven and be able to work to deadlines.
Your answers to the capability questions will be used to determine interview selection.

Everyone starting in a new role with the Environment Agency will be welcomed into the team and given all of the training and support you need to succeed.

The Environment Agency offer an extensive range of employee benefits.
