We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking individuals to take up the role of Specialist Team Member within the Field Services teams based in Greater Manchester.
You will be passionate about the environment and have the desire to help reduce the risk of flooding to people and properties in the communities we serve.
Your role is key to delivering our programme of works to maintain our flood defence assets while also leading our response to reactive works to prevent flooding and limit the impact of pollution events.
You will ensure our field teams & contractors are working to agreed H&S & environmental standards through providing Health safety and environmental instructions to the field teams. You will schedule work and supervise both our internal workforce and external contractors and ensure that all work is completed to standard, on time and on budget. You will achieve this through contract documentation, regular site checks & internal audits.
You will support the Field Team Leaders to efficiently deliver the routine maintenance programmes by planning, organising and allocating resources to the field teams.

You will take part in our operational response to flood and environment incidents by participating, and training in an incident role.
Our field teams protect people and the environment by maintaining and operating our flood and coastal risk management assets across Greater Manchester.
We provide advice and support to our colleagues in Asset Performance, Environment Management and Fisheries, Biodiversity and Geomorphology.
We respond to flooding and environmental incidents both day and night. We also work across the country when called upon to assist other Areas.
Through your experience to date you will be able to demonstrate of the following:

• Excellent leadership;
• Managing contractors and working with external partners;
• Delivery of work by planning, tracking and maintaining data/information;
• Good organisational skills;
• Confident in the use of IT systems and the use of MS Office;
• Managing multiple priorities and demands.
You will be comfortable making decisions and resolving problems as they arise.
We welcome all backgrounds, preferably with an interest in engineering, geography or a science discipline. Most important is your enthusiasm and willingness to learn combined with excellent problem solving and communication skills.
You will take part in our 24 hour Incident response rota and you will be required to travel to the depot and between sites a full UK driving licence is required
Permanent roles may be eligible for the Environment Agency's Lease Car Scheme.
