We are looking for someone to manage our stock of mobile flood risk management assets and liaise with national colleagues and our professional partners. In this role, you will plan and supervise the day to day running of an Environment Agency Principal Depot at Sale, Greater Manchester, with duties including the secure storage, maintenance and deployment of equipment such as pumps, flood barriers, sandbag hoppers, incident command vehicles and ultra-high volume pumps.
You will maintain an up-to-date asset inventory, logging equipment and its status, and managing the movement of deployed assets.
You will be responsible for supervising the day to day stock of PPE for the teams based at the depot. You would also make sure that small plant and fleet vehicles are maintained to a high standard and that all checks have been undertaken before and after each working day to maintain compliance.
You will have sufficient skill and knowledge of information technology to be able to keep an up to date inventory for maintaining the supply and demand of equipment.

You should understand the Health Safety & Wellbeing (HS&W) risks, including but not limited to, maintaining depot standards and using plant and equipment while protecting the environment.
We have six Operations Field Teams across Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire. You will be based at our Principal depot in Sale.
When the teams are not responding to incidents, putting up temporary barriers, sandbag walls, operating pumps and our major flood defence assets, they have a full programme maintaining our rivers, flood defences and equipment. This proactive work keeps our assets operational and in good condition for when emergencies occur.
You should demonstrate the ability to deliver results where performance targets are crucial and problems must be resolved quickly. Good organizational skills and a proven ability to work under pressure during incidents is essential. You must understand site health and safety requirements and you’ll need strong people skills to motivate and engage others and be comfortable with managing external suppliers, such as equipment maintainers and logistics/transport staff visiting the site.
Previous experience of hand tools, power tools and plant machinery is desirable, but an aptitude and interest to learn is welcomed as full training is provided.
You should be computer literate with at least a basic ability to use computer and tablet-based applications (strong Excel and Word skills are desirable). Training can be provided to develop existing skills.
Take part in out of hour's incident response as part of a rota
You should hold a full, clean driving licence.
