As a Waste Crime Triage Officer you will work in our Area Enforcement Team dealing with waste crime across the Hertfordshire and North London Area. This is a new role to the Environment Agency co-ordinating our frontline response to reports of waste crime. The role will primarily be administrative and will involve desk based research, tasking of Field Officers and associated follow up work. You will liaise with internal staff, members of the public and professional partners such as Local Authorities. You will be encouraged to be innovative and proactive in your approach, in particular looking for opportunities to do things more efficiently. We receive a high volume of reports of illegal activity so the role will be busy with room for developing it further. This is an exciting opportunity to work in targeting a rapidly developing area of crime.
You’ll be part of a dedicated Enforcement Team specialising in dealing with serious and significant environmental crime. The team provide governance and ensure action is taken consistently and in accordance with EA procedures and crime priorities. The team has an important role in supporting the delivery of effective and efficient enforcement action in the area. This could be by leading on complex cases or supporting other Area teams with their investigations.
You will have proven administrative skills in a busy environment and you will be a highly organised with strong attention to detail. You will have good communication skills focussing on internal and external customers. You will be able to manage yourself and prioritise your own work effectively. You will have strong experience of data and information management so you must be competent in using various IT applications.
